Configuring the Upcoming Events App

In this article:

• Using Google Calendar
• Using Yahoo! Calendar
• Using Microsoft Outlook 365

You can use the Upcoming Events App to display entries from a calendar feed on any VS Networks device. Upcoming events, sales, employee birthdays, etc. can be shared via Google, Yahoo!, or Microsoft Outlook 365 calendar.

Notes:

• An instance of the app can display three different calendars and you can create as many instances as you'd like.
• Panel view can display up to nine events along with details such as a location or description. Illustrations for certain holidays and events are available through Panel view.
• Agenda view can display up to 15 events, but no additional details.

 

Using Google Calendar

To use Google Calendar with the Upcoming Events App:

1. Open your calendar in Google.
2. In the left-side menu, hover over the calendar you’d like to connect.
3. Click the vertical ellipsis (⋮) and select Settings and sharing.
4. Under Settings, click Access permissions.
   • Ensure the Make available to public box is checked.
5. Under Settings, click Integrate calendar.
6. Copy the .ics link in the Public address in iCal format section.
7. Login to your Spectrio account, then navigate to the Apps tab.
8. Underneath Upcoming Events App, click Add.
9. Paste the URL from Step 6 into the iCal URL 1 field.
10. Click Save.

Notes:

• You can add additional iCal URLs, give your calendar a Title, set the Display Mode, select a Timeframe, and set the play Frequency.
• Remember to click Update Now from the device menu to push your calendar to display.

 

Using Yahoo! Calendar

To use Yahoo! Calendar with the Upcoming Events App:

1. Open your calendar in Yahoo!.
2. In the left-side menu, hover over the calendar you’d like to connect.
3. Click the downward arrow, then select Share.
4. Ensure the Enable my public calendar box is checked.
5. Check the Generate links box, then copy the URL in the To import into a Calendar app (ICS) box.
6. Click Save.
7. Login to your Spectrio account, then navigate to the Apps tab. 
8. Underneath Upcoming Events App, click Add.
9. Paste the URL from Step 5 into the iCal URL 1 field.
10. Click Save.

Notes:

• You can add additional iCal URLs, give your calendar a Title, set the Display Mode, select a Timeframe, and set the play Frequency.
• Remember to click Update Now from the device menu to push your calendar to display.

 

Using Microsoft Outlook 365

 To use Microsoft Outlook 365 Calendar with the Upcoming Events App:

1. Open your calendar in Microsoft Outlook 365.
2. Click the Settings icon in the top-right corner of the screen.
3. Under Your App Settings, select Calendar.
4. Under Shared Calendars in the left-side menu, click Publish calendar.
5. Select the desired calendar.
6. Under Select Permissions, select Full Details.
7. Click Save.
8. Right-click the ICS link and copy the URL.
9. Underneath Upcoming Events App, click Add.
10. Paste the URL from Step 8 into the iCal URL 1 field.
11. Click Save.

Notes:

• Remember to click Update Now from the device menu to push your calendar to display.
